So when all was said and done, what was clearly the best team in college basketball won it all last night. That game was over by 9:35, maybe before then. Florida in '07, UNC in '09, isn't it nice to see a team of seniors still playing college basketball? Having the NBA adopt the same rules the NFL uses to draft its players would help both college basketball and the NBA. I can dream. I guess I'll have to drop that Yankees-Carolina comparison after all...until the Yankees actually win when it counts.
It's somehow appropriate that the Big East gave us the best game of the tournament in Villanova/Pittsburgh, and yet failed to see even one of its teams reach the promised land of Monday night. That thought nicely symbolizes a tournament which saw 40 of 64 games end in +10 blowouts, with still more games being won comfortably. At least we don't have to dwell on a disappointing tournament for long, as of this afternoon the boys of summer are back in business.
